The perfect accessory for your Albert chain which would have originally (likely) held a pocket watch.

The very first pocket watches, since their creation in the 16th century, up until the late 19th century, had key wind and key set movements. The watch key was necessary to wind the watch and set the time.

This lovely little key would have been an essential tool for the wearer and I love the thought of them hanging, a good hundred years or so later, from the clasps of your chains.

The bale swivels with one side of the key holding a slice of white chalcedony and the other a citrine coloured foiled paste.

Please note, the inner parts of the key is made from a base metal. The outer parts which are on show, from 9 carat gold.
