A superb, solid, seal signet ring crafted in heavy 18 carat gold; rings of this quality are becoming harder and harder for me to source.
 
The piece is hand carved with the head of a Griffin and the words ‘PARATUS SUM’ a Latin phrase which translates to ‘I AM READY’
 
The Griffin, a mythical creature with the head and wings of an eagle and body of a lion, is said to have symbolised courage, boldness and strength and has been used in jewellery for thousands of years, first originating in Persia, one of the oldest civilisations on earth.
 
With a full set of hallmarks for London 1934 and hand engraved to the inside of the shank with the same year, this 92 year old ring has a beautiful layer of patina and a real overall feel of quality that cannot be replicated in modern jewellery.
