You know I'm a sucker for a carved Sardonyx, I find the owdery blue absolutely dreamy, even more so when there's an interesting motif carvd into it.

This piece was made in Germany in or around 1884 but certainly prior to 1888 when the crescent and crown mark came into play.

8 carat gold isn't something we come across often but was the minimum standard for gold in Germany after 1884 and is also the minimum standard for gold in Greece, Denmark and Mexico.

I'm not etirely sure what the seal is decipting but I can make out a shield with a bearded face to the centre topped with an extravagent crown. A suuuuuper cool piece.

Perfect for the collector of unusual finds!
