A truly stunning Victorian locket dating to approx 1860.
 
Famous for keeping their loved ones (near or far) close, lockets were an essential item in any collectors jewellery box. This isn't just any locket though, this one has been expertly crafted in rich 15 carat gold and studded with a rose cut diamond buckle. Buckle themed jewellery represented a close relationship between the giver and the receiver, presenting a metophorical connection between two people.
 
Around the edge of the buckle is a fine line of deep blue enamel. Small parts have been lost over time but in the main it is well preserved.
 
Inside the locket, the original glass panel sits still in immaculate condition.
