A beautiful example, this chased locket with royal blue buckle and anchor is in excellent condition.
Anchors represent hope, stability, guidance and buckles symbolise loyalty, fidelity and strength. This locket most certainly represented the joining of two people in love; the wearer and the departed.
There is an old photo, likely the original, set behind the glass of a young chap looking into the distance. Who was he? What happened to him?
The glass is permanetly in place and there is minor evidence that someone has tried to remove it in the past. There is also an old scratch test mark on one edge of the locket.
All in all a wonderful old piece to be treasured
